Nnadozie continues WSL form as Brighton defeat Leicester

Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie maintained her fine form in the Women’s Super League with a second consecutive clean sheet, helping Brighton & Hove Albion secure a 1‑0 victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Nnadozie had kept her goal intact in Brighton’s previous outing, a goalless draw against Liverpool, before travelling to Leicester.
The breakthrough came shortly after half-time when Kiko Seike tapped into an empty net from close range following a pass from Swedish forward Rosa Kafaji, giving the Seagulls the lead.
The Nigerian international was largely untroubled as Leicester failed to create clear-cut opportunities.
Early in the match, she rushed off her line to gather a loose ball, denying Shannon O’Brien a chance to score, and in the closing stages produced a commanding save, confidently intercepting a corner delivered by Sam Tierney into the penalty area.
Her performance marked Nnadozie’s sixth clean sheet of the 2025‑26 campaign, placing her just behind Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton, who has seven.
The result extended Brighton’s run of solid defensive displays and highlighted the goalkeeper’s growing influence in the WSL.
Speaking during the week, Nnadozie expressed disappointment over the postponement of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, which was moved from March 17–April 3 to July 25–August 16 due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
She admitted the change disrupted preparations, noting that the squad had already begun gearing up for the competition.
“We, the players, are not happy that the WAFCON was postponed. We were preparing hard for it,” she said in an interview with Osasu Obayiuwana.
With her composure and leadership between the posts, Nnadozie continues to be a key figure for Brighton while also keeping herself in sharp form ahead of the rescheduled continental tournament.
