I’ll be a Real Madrid fan for life -Ancelotti

By Daily Sports Nigeria on May 13, 2025

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that he will officially take over as head coach of the Brazil national team on May 26, following the conclusion of Real Madrid’s season.

Speaking on Tuesday, Ancelotti reflected on his time with the Spanish giants and offered praise to former player and rising coach, Xabi Alonso.

“Xabi Alonso doesn’t need any advice from me as he’s a great manager. He has everything to become a top, top coach,” Ancelotti said.

The Italian tactician, who rejoined Real Madrid in 2021 for his second spell, announced his next move while expressing deep appreciation to the club and its supporters.

“I’m gonna coach Brazil from May 26. Like everything in life, things come to an end. I enjoyed my time here.

“I will be a Real Madrid fan for the rest of my life. I never thought I’d be coach for six years. I have to thank the club,” he said.

Ancelotti, 65, will become the first foreign manager to lead Brazil’s men’s national team.

He is expected to oversee Brazil’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, with his first competitive fixture scheduled against Ecuador on June 6.

His appointment follows the dismissal of Dorival Junior in March after 14 months in charge.
