The University of Lagos sports centre (UNILAG) will be agog on Sunday, 27 April 202,5, as curtains will be drawn on the U-13 JOF Kids Cup Tournament.
The tournament, which kicked off a few weeks ago, saw a total of 62 matches played across some playgrounds in the city of Lagos, southwest Nigeria, with two teams qualifying for the final.
Strong Dove of Orile will play against 1st Class FC of Lagos Island in the third-place match scheduled for 1pm, while the final game will be a war between B. Unit Boys of Mainland and Versity Boys of Lagos Island will kick off by 3pm.
The sponsor of the competition, JOF Nigeria Limited, promises a glamorous final ceremony which will attract top dignitaries from multinational companies, local and national sports administrators, business gurus, yesteryear's football idols, and soccer-loving people.
Corporate organisations participating in the tournament sponsorship include Zenith Bank PLC, First Bank PLC, Stanbic IBTC, Providus Bank, Custodian Insurance PLC, Nigerian Brewery PLC brand -Maltina, UAC Foods PLC brand -Gala, Nestle Foods brand- Milo.
Like its tradition, the sponsor JOF Nigeria Limited, has been consistent in rewarding excellence by appreciating outstanding teams and players in the competition since it began six years ago and there won't be an exception this year according to Mr Adeyinka Adetunji, the Director of Strategic Support Services of JOF Nigeria Limited, who revealed during a recent media conference at the corporate headquarters of the company in Ikeja, Lagos that a total sum of N1,925,000 will be won as prize monies for winners from fourth position, third place winners, second position and champions as well as individual award winners during the final ceremony.
Adetunji said the sum of N250,000 for the fourth-place winners. N350,000 will go to the third place, while the second-place winners will pocket the sum of N500,000.
"The winners of the 6th edition of U-13 JOF Kids Cup will go home with the sum of N750,000. We also have monetary rewards for individual awards such as the Best Goalkeeper (N25,000), Highest Goal Scorer (N25,000) and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament, who will pocket the sum of N25,000," he said.
