Junior middleweight Julian Williams (24-1-1, 15 KOs) added another win to his resume on Saturday night in beating former world champion Ishe Smith (29-9, 12 KOs) by one-sided 10 round unanimous decision in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Smith, 39, was cut twice above his left eye from head clashes in round 2 and 7. Neither fighter was hurt during the contest other than Smith’s cut eye.
The judges scored it 99-91, 98-92, and 97-93.
The outcome was never in doubt, as Smith didn’t have the fire power to really do much in the fight. Smith fought well enough to win rounds 5, 6 and 9. Other than that, it was Williams controlling the fight with his jab and his hard right hands.
Williams landed some excellent body shots and right hands in every round of the fight. He showed good power in nailing Smith with right hands.
Williams’ hand speed left a lot to be desired, but he was still fast enough to get the victory over the aging Smith.
