Wikki Tourists administrator tasks players, coaches on NPFL return

The newly appointed Interim Sole Administrator of Bauchi State Football Club, Wikki Tourists FC, Haruna Bako, has charged the club’s players and technical crew to remain focused and committed as preparations intensify for the 2026/27 Nigeria National League season.

According to a statement made available to The PUNCH on Thursday, Bako gave the charge during a visit to the team’s training session at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi, where players are currently undergoing assessment and selection ahead of the new campaign.

The selection exercise, the statement noted, is aimed at identifying the most qualified players to represent the club in the forthcoming Nigeria National League season.

Addressing the players and officials, Bako said his visit was to acquaint himself with the team following his recent formal appointment.

“Our collective responsibility is to ensure that Wikki Tourists FC secures an immediate return to the Nigeria Premier Football League. This goal can only be achieved through hard work, discipline, unity and total commitment from everyone involved,” he said.

He also charged the technical crew to maintain fairness and professionalism during the screening exercise.

“I urge the technical crew to ensure that only the best and most deserving players are selected to wear the colours of Wikki Tourists FC in the new season. Merit must remain our guiding principle,” Bako added.

Responding on behalf of the team, the club’s Technical Adviser, Bala Abubakar, assured the administrator of the coaches’ commitment to the task ahead.

“We appreciate the confidence reposed in us and assure you that we will work diligently to build a competitive team capable of returning Wikki Tourists FC to the NPFL,” Abubakar said.

Also speaking, the team’s captain, Yusuf Mohammed, pledged the players’ readiness to give their all.

“On behalf of the players, I assure you of our determination and commitment. We will continue to work hard and do everything possible to ensure Wikki Tourists FC regains its place in the Nigeria Premier Football League,” he said.
