Turkish based Super Eagles players, Kenneth Omeruo and Ogenyi Onazi have passed vote of confidence on the Gernot Rohr led technical crew for their deep commitment on imparting positively on the players of the senior team, revealing that such right and precise attitudes are the reasons why this set of Eagles want to always come out with result off any of its encounters.

In an exclusive conversation with Daily Sports Omeruo also hailed his teammates on their resilient disposition in the game against the all ambitious Tarenga Lions of Senegal that was desperate to carry the day but met Eagles that fought back, determined to stalemate proceeding which earned the 2013 AFCON champions the respect it deserved.

“We knew it will be an all grudging game and we prepared mentally and physically for it. The most important aspect was the kind of spirit the players threw into the game from kick-off which was unprecedented. It worked and the Senegalese knew they met a truly tough side. It was no tea party, no dull moment either. The fact that the Eagles were not at the last AFCON champ in Gabon never made the Nigerian side just a push over.

“Since Rohr took over the leadership of the technical crew, it has been different approach and attitude to work.
Everyone has come to realise that it won’t be easy breaking into the team and we have to redouble our efforts.
There are many Nigerians in the Diaspora who are willing to lace their boots for their fatherland and it has witnessed drastically upbeat since the Franco- German came on board. The technical crew is determined to put together a compact squad for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers and the 2019 AFCON,” he narrates.

Omeruo observed that both the players and the technical crew are serious with their assignments and understood the task ahead of them. He insists that it was such circumstance that ensured the cordial relationship and atmosphere of peace that exists among them. He noted further that it would lead the country to resounding victory in subsequent games whether competitive or friendly.

“The most important is the harmony among the players’ and the technical crew in camp. The approach of the players to any given game is always new. The resolve to play our style of game no matter who the opponent is has been the key. It has worked out well for the vitally young Eagles team that is evolving into a compact side. We will harvest more victories in future through our hard work, diligence and readiness to learn. Rohr has won our hearts with his discipline and tone setting ability; hence the team is at home with his pace. He has also shown quality leadership and it is only human we reciprocate with the right attitude,” Omeruo declared.

In the same vein, midfield maestro, Ogenyi Onazi paid accolades to the foreign coach, whom he describes simply as a wonderful football technical worker. He has shown he has the capacity to harness the great potentials in Nigerian players and the result is gradually coming.

Rohr, he restates has the vision of the kind of squad he wants to train and has gone the extra mile to ensure the right players both in the Diaspora and locally are given opportunity. He is attracting them and the interest by Nigerians in the Diaspora to wear the Green-White-Green shirt and pant is growing by the day.

“It shows signs of great future for the team and the tempo must be sustained as we decisively search for the ticket to Russia 2018 World Cup summit. The guarantees of the players are dripping. We won’t allow distraction no matter the angle it is coming from at this crucial stage of the game. The remaining World Cup games both home and away remains critical in our quest to continue with the leadership of the group.  We are ready for our opponents in the group beginning with Cameroun. There won’t be any mercy as we square up against the AFCON champions. It will be gritty and the Eagles won’t buckle because we are fully aware of the importance and what our presence in the World Cup would bring to the table for the continent,” Onazi explains.

He called on all key stakeholders in the 2018 World Cup project to be awake and alive to the target as there won’t be room for complacency in any form. He further called for more friendly matches that would shape up the Eagles and also allow the technical adviser to critically assess the lads he is keen in introducing to the team.
