The new Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season will kick off on January 15, officials have announced.
The NPFL clubs came out of their Annual General meeting (AGM) in Enugu Sunday night to announce the kick-off date for new season.
Kano Pillars will get the new season going when they host FC IfeanyiUbah in a first-ever Friday Night Football on January 15.
The following day, the star match will be between champions Rangers and Abia Warriors, while on Sunday, January 17, 2017, the star match will see Enyimba host Sunshine Stars in their new home in Calabar.
Rangers won the league last season with Rivers United runners-up.
Both clubs will represent Nigeria in next year's CAF Champions League.
Remo Stars, Katsina United, ABS FC and Gombe United have been promoted to the top flight, while Giwa FC, Ikorodu United, Heartland and Warri Wolves were relegated. (mtnfootball.com)
