Coming off a 3-1 defeat against Akwa United in Uyo on match-day six, Remo Stars are back in Ikenne and will file out against Plateau United in another tough test on Sunday (today).
Last week’s defeat allowed Plateau United, Akwa United and Enyimba close the gap on them to two points, and this fixture brings Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side closer again to topping Daniel Ogunbodede’s side on the table.
While the coaches, Ogunbodede and Ilechukwu will have it all to do tactically, Plateau United captain, Daniel Itodo is confident that they can get something out of the encounter.
“Our games this season have been kind of explosive. We have had to work hard and dig deep for results and that effort has usually paid off so far,” Itodo said.
“Remo lost their last game and will be looking to get back to winning ways, at the same time we also have a momentum to keep so we bring our fighting spirit again on Sunday.”
Meanwhile, Remo Stars goalkeeper Kayode Bankole who sat out of the 3-1 defeat to Akwa United last week also said the team are poised to bounce back.
“We came back to watch the game against Akwa and we’ve been working to correct our mistakes,” Bankole told brilla.net.
“The last game has come and gone and the next thing is to focus on the next game. What we have to do is put in all our best to get maximum points.”
Bankole will hope to return between the sticks for Remo today with the possibility of safeguarding their clean sheets at home this season.
