Former champions Enyimba returned to winning ways in the Nigeria Premier Football League on Sunday, thanks to a 2-1 win over Rangers International in an Oriental derby at the Aba Township Stadium, The PUNCH reports.
Without a win in their previous three matches, Enyimba began life without coach Stanley Eguma with a resolve to turn their fortunes around against the seven-time champions.
Chidera Michael opened the scoring for the hosts 42 minutes into the game, and Stanley Dimgba doubled the advantage in the 81st minute before Rangers pulled one back in stoppage time through Kenechukwu Agu.
It was Enyimba’s fifth win of the season, but they are still dangling in the middle of the table with 20 points after 15 matches.
Newly-promoted side Kun Khalifat FC moved out of the relegation zone thanks to a 2-0 win over Plateau United in Owerri.
Kun Khalifat threw their gates open for the fans at the Dan Anyim Stadium, and they made it count with two second-half goals from Lekan Gabriel and Henry Ezeonye.
Gabriel opened the scoring in the 47th minute, and Ezeonye doubled the advantage with a 70th-minute penalty as Kun Khalifat moved a place above the drop zone with 17 points.

Muhammad Umar restored Barau’s lead just before halftim,e while Aule Johnmark levelled matters again for Kwara United four minutes into the second half.
Stanley Oganbor’s 90th-minute goal sealed the tie for Barau’s fourth win of the season as they remain locked in the 18th position.
In Lagos, Chidera Oparaoche’s 69th-minute goal was enough for Ikorodu City to beat Abia Warriors 1-0 and move to the top of the table.
With 27 points, they led the log on goal difference ahead of Nasarawa United, who lost 1-0 against Warri Wolves in Ozoro.
