Qatari top flight club Qatar SC have rejected a €4 million offer from an unnamed club in Germany for their Nigerian forward Michael Babatunde this summer, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Acccording to Babatunde’s agent, Nureni Makanjuola, the player has been attracting interest from top Bundesliga teams following his stellar performance in his debut season in Qatar where he scored 24 goals and provided 15 assists as Qatar SC gained promotion from the second tier. The agent claims the club are not ready to negotiate the Super Eagles 2014 World Cup star’s exit.
Makanjuola told Completesportsnigeria.com that the valuation of the player has risen and it will take a mammoth offer for him to be sold.
“It’s a bit difficult now because Michael did very well in his first season in Qatar and he was instrumental in their success gaining promotion to the top division,” Makanjuola told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“I’m well aware that many Nigerians want him in Europe but considering the many factors he had to battle through he opted to move to Qatar. At times in life you need to take a step backward to move higher.
“A bid has been rejected but we will see how it goes. They want him to help the team stay in the top division.”
Babatunde, meanwhile, will join up with SC Qatar in Germany for pre-season ahead of the new season which kicks off in September. (completesportsnigeria)
