Bankole joins South Africa’s TS Galaxy

By Daily Sports Nigeria on October 3, 2025

Super Eagles goalkeeper Kayode Bankole has completed a move to South African Premiership side TS Galaxy after five years with Nigeria’s Remo Stars.

A close source to the player confirmed the switch to PUNCH Sports Extra on Thursday, explaining that the transfer was finalised earlier in the day.

According to the source, Bankole signed his contract with the Mpumalanga-based club, sealing the deal that takes him away from the Nigeria Premier Football League.

“Kayode has completed the move to TS Galaxy, he has signed the contract today (Thursday) and the deal is completed,” he said.

Bankole, who began his senior career with Remo Stars in 2020, departs as the club’s longest-serving goalkeeper. His contract expired at the end of the 2024–25 season, and he was among five key players released in August as the Sky Blue Stars reshaped their squad.

Alongside him, striker Sikiru Alimi, Beninoise forward Frank Mawuena, defender Seun Ogunribide and Fabian Nworie all departed, while captain Junior Nduka also left after the start of the campaign.

The exit of such established names left a leadership gap in Daniel Ogunmodede’s side. Defender Adedayo Olamilekan, voted Remo Stars’ best player last season, has since taken over the armband on an interim basis, although the head coach has said no permanent captain has yet been chosen.

Bankole featured only sporadically in the previous campaign, losing his starting place to Benin Republic international Serge Obassa.

Despite this, his experience and status as a former Super Eagles squad member made him a valuable target for Galaxy, who are looking to strengthen their options.

TS Galaxy, who were formed in 2015 and are owned by Tim Sukazi, have steadily grown in South African football since winning promotion to the top flight. Their league finishes in recent seasons have been 9th, 13th, 10th, 6th and 5th. This campaign, they sit eighth after six matches.

Up next for Galaxy is a South African League Cup tie against ORBIT College on Saturday before resuming Premiership action against Magesi on October 18 after the international break.
