Rohr’s Alarm on 2022, Victor Osimhen, the Search Continues, Congratulations, NPFL

By Daily Sports on July 13, 2020

Dear readers Adesoji Biyi, Mohammed Mahmoud from Kano, Orji Orji, Essien Lucky and numerous others, many thanks for being ardent followers of this page every Monday.

I am humbled by your encomiums but my promise and take remains that you all have been the reason why the column has remained focused, authoritative, depth, critical and thorough.

Let me restate and reassure absolutely that I have no alternative than to continue saying it as it is without let or hindrance as that is the hallmark or tenets of journalism practice.

Some of you requested we run Victor Osimhen full circle this week again. What we can promise you is that this powerful and influential all sports digital newspaper will as usual be on top of the player’s movement and report same to the teeming readers and followers of Daily Sports.

The lad is doing well and determined to go higher as he rejected Napoli FC offer. He is currently eyeing other top club sides and when a deal is sealed we will report it fresh.

As we are preparing to go to the press, Super Eagles technical hand, Gernot Rohr was reported to have declared that year 2022 will be tough for the Super Eagles and that meant all hand would be on deck to make it resounding in all the team’s engagements.

Rohr is a great coach who alerts his players on one hand and gingers them up on the other. He has woken them up n advance to be on their toes so as to face squarely the tasks ahead in order to get over whatever hurdle no matter how difficult as the 2022 challenge beckons.

The Franco-German sweat merchant, even his most critics would agree, is a proactive technical man and by so doing it meant that Eagles players both old and new would not be allowed to be caught unawares for the assignment.

One must posit that the form of most of the lads the coach has his eyes on are looking upbeat and even the ones he and his crew are monitoring to join the reformed Super Eagles. One thing is sure and that is every department in the squad presently would be really competitive and every player must sit up decisively.

This development gladdens every close and keen watcher of the national team as when this kind of trend happened in the team was when Clemens Westerhof was in charge as far back in the early 1990’s which helped in no smaller measure to throw up a suicide team then that many African teams dreaded. This included the Indomitable Lions of Cameroun and the North African teams which swallowed bitter pills in the hands of the Super Eagles.

This columnist anticipates that, that is the kind of road Rohr would like to walk on. It is possible to accomplish if all thoughts would be one. Again, the foreign players that have interest to lace their boots for Nigeria are legion and it would give the Eagles’ handlers ample opportunity to select our best legs.

However, one prays that as players are showing keen interest so the eagle eyed goalkeepers of Nigerian origin would show up too because there is a huge deficit in that department of the team.

As we keep hope alive and work with the technical crew to ensure they achieve their target in 2022, all eyes must be on the ball.

Before the curtain is drawn this week, we congratulate all for the conclusion of the NPFL season in assurance that the new season would kick- off October, all things being equal. It remains cheering and one therefore urge the clubs that would fly the country’s flag for the two continental  championships, as there will be no excuse for early exit in the impending tournament.

Follow up on our social media handles and keep shooting hard till next week!!
