Katsina Utd edge Pillars in gruelling Northwest Derby

By Daily Sports on July 20, 2017

Usule Martins' 36th minute header was all Katsina United needed to subdue Kano Pillars in a highly contested Matchday 30 Nigeria Professional Football League game decided at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.

Destiny Ashadi made the first attempt as early as the second minute and kept on with skilful passes which eventually committed Jamiu Alimi into being cautioned by the referee. Pillars midfielder Rabiu Ali made his presence felt thereafter as his solo effort went wide off the mark.

Destiny Ashadi was voted man of the match for his excellent display on the evening.

The win puts Katsina United in 11th position on the league table, having garnered 41 points from 30 games. They will now proceed to Lagos for Matchday 31 against MFM FC on Sunday.

Kano Pillars are unmoved in 10th spot with 41 points from 29 matches and will host Remo Stars this weekend.
