Moses, Ogu to miss Corsica friendly

Nigeria will present a depleted squad as the Super Eagles step up preparation for the international friendly with Corsica.

12 players made the trip to the regional French county after the meet-up at Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris on Tuesday with light training on Wednesday morning.

Ahmed Musa, Shehu Abdullahi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Portugal based Mikel Agu joined up with the squad on Wednesday evening to bring to 16, the number of players in camp.

However, a few core players will miss the friendly against Corsica as for various reasons, players are withdrawing from the squad.

Ogenyi Onazi is a doubt for the friendly with the Islanders, so also Hapoel Beer Sheva midfielder John Ogu and Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi.
KAA Gent’s Moses Simon will miss the games against Corsica and Togo but will link up with the squad when they return to Nigeria as he concentrates on getting fit for the AFCON qualifier.

The Super Eagles will play Corsica on June 26 and then face the Hawks of Togo four days later as they prepare for the June 10 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
