Nigerian international John Obi Mikel has returned to former club Chelsea to seek a second opinion on an abdominal muscle injury.
The Super Eagles player, who is currently on the books of Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda, has been struggling with the problem in recent weeks.
He will not participate in his club’s match against Hebei CFFC at the Qinhuangdao Stadium this weekend.
Mikel’s bothersome injury has seen him fly to England this week to consult with the doctors at former club Chelsea.
Despite the injury, it is expected that Mikel will be fit and firing for Nigeria when they take on South Africa in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in June. (mtnfootball.com)
