Ex-Nigeria international Sam Sodje has urged his former club, West Bromwich Albion to sign Ahmed Musa.
Musa is currently a free agent having parted ways with Saudi Professional League club Al Nasser in October 2020.
The Nigeria captain was reportedly offered to English Premier League clubs Newcastle United, West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Sheffield United and Burnley two months ago.
It has also been reported that West Brom attempted to sign Musa in the last transfer window, but a proposed loan deal did not come to fruition despite the player agreeing personal terms with the Premier League club.
Sodje, who is a retired defender, believes that the 28-year-old winger would be a good addition to Sam Allardyce’s squad as he is pacey and has an eye for a goal.
“Ahmed Musa will be a good signing because the way Sam Allardyce plays he’s going to look into playing counter attack and he has always been a good manager to keep clubs up,” Sodje told All Nigeria Soccer.
“So Musa will be a very good signing. It’s going to be difficult, very hard, for them to stay up with the squad that they have but Musa will be a very good addition to the squad.”
Musa is familiar with the Premier League as he was on the books of Leicester City between 2016 and 2018 – scoring twice in 21 matches in the competition.
“It’s a wonderful club, a family club, but they are in a very difficult situation at the moment,” former Watford FC and Leeds United player Sodje continued.
“Musa has pace, has an eye for a goal, and is experienced. If Musa comes in, they are going to play counter attack where they can use his pace.
“In the Premier League once you have pace it’s scary so he’d be a good signing if they sign him.”
Musa has netted 15 goals from 95 international matches for Nigeria and his last appearance for the Super Eagles was against Tunisia in a friendly match in October 2020. (African Football)
