Elderson Echiejile has completed a loan move from Monaco to La Liga club, Sporting Gijon, till the end of the season.

The Nigeria international who was recalled from his loan spell at Standard Liege due to lack of regular first team football, will team up with the relegation strugglers.

Echiejile who is on his second loan spell since joining the Ligue 1 giants in 2014, is expected to undergo his medical examinations on Thursday to become the Rojiblancos last signing in the January transfer window.

“Elderson Echiejile is an experienced international player who, after a brief stint at Standard de Liège, has qualified at Sporting to end the 2016-2017 season thanks to a transfer contract with AS Monaco, owner of the player,” the club announced on their website.

“Elderson will travel to Gijón tomorrow, to pass medical examinations on Thursday to allow him to join the Rubi squad. With its incorporation Sporting closes the winter period of signings, after those of Mikel Vesga and Lacina Traoré.”
