Nigerian Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo paid a surprise visit to the Super Eagles in training in Abuja Tuesday evening and tasked them to beat visiting Algeria Saturday.
The August visitor was accompanied by the country’s sports minister and top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
He urged the Eagles to beat Algeria to consolidate their leadership of their World Cup qualifying group.
"The President is very much aware of the finances of the NFF and that was why the government intervened for the away game in Zambia," Osinbajo.
"You should be patriotic and go out there to beat Algeria on Saturday.
"We will support you to qualify for the 2018 World Cup."
The Nigerian government made available the sum of 100 million Naira to help offset some of the bills for the visit to Ndola, Zambia, early last month.
The country's No.2 man also addressed the Super Falcons, the Nigeria women's football team, who are preparing to defend their continental title in Cameroon this month.
He also pledged the government's support in their quest to remain African champions. (mtnfootball.com)
