Obi gave the assurance in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, during the OBIDIENT Conference and official declaration for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), themed “Activating the PO Effect in ADC.”

Addressing a gathering of loyalists, the former Anambra State governor called on Nigerians to unite with him in what he described as a mission to rescue the country for future generations. He warned that decades of poor governance have placed a heavy burden on young Nigerians, who, he said, will ultimately bear the consequences.

Obi alleged that he had credible information suggesting that the Federal Government does not want him to run in 2027. However, he maintained that he remains undeterred.

Explaining his exit from the Labour Party, Obi said on Saturday, “Democracy must work, I left Labour Party when I got informed that as long as I remain in the party, INEC will not recognise its leadership, that the Federal Government doesn’t want me on ballot paper, but I want to assure you that I will contest the coming election even if it holds in their bedroom and if they don’t want to transmit the results, we will transmit it for them.”

He stressed that Nigeria must “get it right” in 2027, insisting that election results should be transmitted online in real time to ensure transparency.

Obi also criticised the current administration’s borrowing record, claiming it had taken more loans than previous governments and that repayment obligations stretching between 2045 and 2050 would fall on future generations.

Outlining his vision, Obi promised that if elected, his government would prioritise heavy investment in education and healthcare. According to him, nations that have achieved lasting development did so through deliberate investment in human capital. He added that lifting people out of poverty would significantly reduce criminality.

The presidential hopeful further disclosed plans to tour all parts of the country and visit higher institutions to assess challenges firsthand. He said those aligning with his ambition must understand that the focus is on the nation’s future and the well-being of its citizens.

On corruption, Obi pledged decisive action, arguing that the problem could be reduced significantly if leaders and their families remain free from corrupt practices.

“When I became governor of Anambra State, I advised my wife to forget about the office of first lady because we were not elected together. I approved over 100 C of Os of government lands, but have none for myself or my family. If you find any, petition me to the appropriate authority,” he added.

Also speaking at the event, the worldwide coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Tanko Yunusa, urged Nigerians to mobilise across the country ahead of 2027 and channel their efforts through the African Democratic Congress as a platform for change.

Similarly, the Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of the movement, Ben Smith, appealed for unity among members, cautioning that internal divisions could undermine the collective goal of building a new Nigeria.
