The Executive Chairman, Edo State Sports Commission, Amadin Desmond Enabulele, on Sunday, hailed Bendel Insurance for their outstanding performance in a thrilling 2-1 victory over league leaders Remo Stars in Benin on Saturday.
The Benin Arsenals defeated the high-flying Sky Blue Boys 2-1 in match day 28 of the Nigeria Premier Football League game on Saturday, Courtesy of skipper Meyiwa. Oritseweyinmi’s two beautiful goals at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
Enabulele, who spoke in a chat with journalists shortly after the game, described the Benin Arsenals’ performance as superlative.
He lauded the team for their resilience and skillful display to secure the crucial win over the table toppers.
Hon. Enabulele also praised the team for their remarkable turnaround, after battling out of the relegation zone and now comfortable in the 7th position.
He assured Insurance of the state government’s commitment to the welfare of the players and officials.
He said, “This victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our players and coaching staff. When we came in, Bendel Insurance was battling relegation, but today, the transformation is evident.
“I must commend the team captain, Meyiwa Oritseweyinmi, for proving his worth. The team is moving in the right direction. Currently, we are seventh on the league table, and we are confident of breaking into the top four.”
He urged the players to maintain the momentum, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and determination in achieving greater success.
At the end of the game, Oritseweyinmi was named Man of the Match and received a N150,000 award, presented by Edo State Commissioner for Information, Paul Ohonbamu, alongside Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele.
