I won’t sell Osimhen for €200m – De Laurentiis

By Daily Sports Nigeria on August 10, 2023

Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has revealed that the club’s most prized asset, Victor Osimhen will not be sold this summer even if their valuation of €200m is met, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

De Laurentiis made this know during his conversation with the Napoli Ultras in a retreat before the team’s training in Abruzzo on Wednesday.

As reported by PUNCH Sports Extra on July 31, the Partenopei President who turned down a lucrative €130m bid from Saudi Arabia side Al-Hilal for the Nigerian striker is focusing on securing Osimhen’s future at the club by negotiating a new contract extension.

“I’m not selling Osimhen even for €200m,”De Laurentiis was quoted as saying according to Calcio Napoli.

“And he is not leaving.”

Meanwhile, Osimhen had to cut short his training with his club teammates on Tuesday after he suffered a sprain on his right ankle.

The 24-year-old was badly hurt after colliding with his new club teammate Natan de Souza in a challenge.

It remains to be seen if he will feature in Napoli’s final pre-season game against Greek club Apollon on Friday as he has missed their last two games against Augsburg and Girona due to a muscle strain.

Osimhen capped an oustanding season in Italy last season as he finished as the league’s top scorer with an impressive 26 goals in just 32 appearances. His remarkable feat also earned him the prestigious Golden Boot award, making him the first African player to claim this accolade in the league’s history.

Napoli, currently training at the Aqua Montis Resort and Spa in Rivisondoli ahead of the start of their forthcoming Serie A title defence next Saturday against Frosinone.
