It is team that missed penalty, says Burkina Faso star, Traore

Burkina Faso midfielder Abdou Razack Traore cut a disappointed figure following their elimination from the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.

The Stallions were narrowly beaten 4-3 on penalties by Egypt's Pharaohs in a quarter-final clash following a 1-1 draw in Libreville on Wednesday night.

Goalkeeper Herve Koffi and forward Bertrand Traore missed Burkina Faso saw their spot-kicks saved by Egypt goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary.

“They missed the penalties but it is like we all missed the penalties," Traore told the media.

"We lose together and we win today. It is the team that missed the penalty.

“We are really disappointed today because we played good football. We tried everything today but that is football.”

The Stallions are set to participate in the third-place play-off against the loser between Cameroon and Ghana on Saturday night. (mtnfootball.com)
