Sanusi charges Falcons to Overwhelm Senegal

By Daily Sports on April 11, 2016

The General Secretary of Nigeria Football Federation, Dr.Mohammed Sanusi has called on the Senior Women National Team, Super Falcons, to go all out and dismiss the Teranga Lioness of Senegal from the race to this year’s African Women Cup of Nations taking place in Cameroon.

On Friday, both teams played out a 1-1 draw at the Stade Demba Diop in the Senegalese capital, with Nigeria, the reigning continental champions, scoring first through Chioma Wogu before the hosts equalized in the second half.

“My charge is for the Super Falcons to go all out for a win against Senegal on Tuesday, so that we will qualify to defend the title won in Namibia two years ago.

“They should refuse to be distracted and go ahead and do the job on the field. Nigeria is the powerhouse of Africa in women’s football and we must maintain that position.”

The Teranga Lioness delegation flew with the Super Falcons back to Nigeria on Saturday afternoon, and will have the official training at the National Stadium, Abuja on Monday evening.

Falcons’ Head Coach, Florence Omagbemi said: “Our objective was to get a win in Dakar, but it didn’t happen. Now, we have no choice but to do the business here on our own ground. There is nothing to fear. We have the players to lift Nigeria to victory.”

Tuesday’s second leg clash will start at 4pm at the National Stadium, Abuja. (thenff.com)
