A notable sports enthusiast in Anambra State, Akonam Obiefuna, on Thursday emerged the new chairman for the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), Anambra State chapter.
Obiefuna, an Engineer from Nanka in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state, is expected to steer the ship for the next five years.
Speaking during an event held at Geogold Hotel, Awka, to unveil the new chairman, the State YSFON Secretary, Mr. Raphael Nweke, gave the assurance that members of the executive will give him all the support to have a smooth sail.
Nweke took Obiefuna down memory lane of the federation’s activities in the state before handing him his appointment letter.
In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman promised to use the YSFON platform to meet his desire of passionate and consistent development of grassroots sports in Anambra State.
He reeled out passion, sincerity of purpose and determination as the tools to achieving the set vision.
Obiefuna added: “I thank you for finding worthy of this position. I am honoured. We have a big task ahead of us, so I implore us to passionately work together with a sense of purpose so we can achieve results.”
The new chairman, who was once a sports presenter on NTA, is the brain behind Nanka Champions League sponsored by Chief Pauly Emenike.
