Ex-3SC striker dies after surgery

Former Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan striker, Oladele Eweje, died in the early hours of Friday in Lagos.

“Eweje died after a successful appendicitis operation and he has since buried,” a report by Tribunesport said.

The midfielder was instrumental in the promotion of 3SC back to the Glo Premier League two seasons ago from the Nigeria National League (NNL).

Eweje featured for 3SC in the early part of the 2015 Glo Premier League season before he rejoined his former team, Remo Stars in the mid-season.

Eweje was said to have undergone trials with Sunshine Stars of Akure before he was dropped from the squad which commenced a closed camping in Ilorin last week.

One of his former teammates, Mutiu Adegoke, told Tribunesport that he will sorely miss the deceased who he described as a humble and disciplined player.

He said: “Oladele was a brother to me and we lived very close to each other in Lagos. We always engaged in personal training every morning in Lagos whenever we had time to do so. I will forever miss him, he was a young man who was full of hope but God knows best.”
