Sports Minister Declares E-Sports Championship Open

Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Sunday Dare, has declared opened the 2020 E-Sports  Championship tagged “Fuel Your Passion” put together by Nilayo Sports Management Limited.

The Minister, who was represented by Dr. Ebhojaiye Simon during the Zoom meeting, pronounced the eight weeks event open to the delight of everyone involved.

In his speech the minister said: “As a nation, we are tapping into potentials which E-Sport can offer, we thank Nilayo Sports Management Limited for doing this.”

Chief Executive Officer of Nilayo Sports Management Limited, Hon. Bukola Olopade, a former youth and sports commissioner in Ogun State, in his opening speech appreciated everyone who worked effortlessly in ensuring that the event became a reality. He said the event would empower so many young people due to its nature.

He added: “We plan to have an E-Sport Summit in March at the Eko Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria, where the best gamers from around the world will come and showcase their skills and interact with the tech industry and sponsors.”

The event is worth $10,000 in prize money system and people as young as 10 and as old as 50 can take part.

The organisers, Nilayo Sports Management Limited, are the owners of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, the Abeokuta 10 KM Marathon, the Remo Ultra Race as well as the Kaduna Marathon, which is coming up later in the year.
