Enugu Rangers central attacker, Edoh Ocheme has said his side will not miss the opportunity to take over the top-flight summit against oriental neighbours, Abia Warriors.
The Flying Antelopes will host the Warriors in Friday’s night Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 26 oriental derby at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
Both sides shared the spoils in the four goals thriller in first fixture clash at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
Ocheme said he will not wait to partake for the first time in the thrills and spills associated with the oriental derby clash.
“Of course, we won’t miss the rare opportunity to climb to the number one spot on the log, we hope to maximise the opportunity fully when we clash against Abia Warriors on Friday in Enugu.
“I have heard fond stories about the oriental derby and I won’t wait to participate in the clash.
“Part of the stories is that it’s usually difficult and tough just like any other local derbies in the land.
“However, we are 100% focus on the clash against one of the oriental neighbours, Abia Warriors.
“Abia Warriors are dangerous coming on the heels of away and home defeats they will come with full force to redeem their image and pride.
“However, we have gone the extra-mile to prepare for the clash we expect nothing short of outright victory,” said the former Giwa FC marksman to supersport.com.
Ocheme however pleaded for patience with the teeming supporters that his goals will soon start coming.
“People expected me to score in my debut that did not happen but I know for sure that my goals will come shortly and thereafter there will not be anything stopping the goals.
“I ask for patience to stabilise and gain more confidence as my greatest joy will be to score steadily and win the league title with Enugu Rangers,” said the former Crown FC goal king.
The Coal City side are second on the Nigerian top-flight log on 40 points two behind league leaders, Wikki Tourists.
