Ighalo Practises Sharp Shooting Ahead Of Man United Debut Against Chelsea

By Daily Sports on February 13, 2020

Odion Ighalo has taken a step closer to being ready for Manchester United action, after hitting the training ground to work on his finishing. Ighalo is on a tailored programme to get him quickly up to speed at United, following his transfer deadline-day loan switch from Shanghai Shenhua.

The 30-year-old uploaded footage of himself putting in the hard work yesterday, as he bids to quickly return to Premier League standard and slot into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans, yet decided to delete it shortly after publishing.

The former Watford man could be seen receiving passes to feet in a short video, before turning on the ball and shooting first time at goal. The footage stayed online for a matter of minutes before it disappeared.

Instead, the Nigerian quickly followed up the post with a series of photos showing himself looking lean and toned in the United gym, working on the weights. Ighalo is yet to meet his new United team-mates, with Solskjaer’s squad currently undertaking a warm-weather training camp in Malaga.

United opted not to take their latest recruit straight to the Spanish camp, amid fears he would not be allowed back into the country due to tightening of national security following the outbreak of coronavirus.

Solskjaer immediately told fans of his decision, following Ighalo’s touching down in the UK. ‘Odion [Ighalo] will stay in Manchester, because since he’s coming from China in the last 14 days and the news of the virus there we’re not sure if he’s going to be allowed back into England if he leaves the country again, so he’s staying here working with a personal coach, individual programme and his family then can settle in England as well,’ said the Norwegian.

United resume action on February 17, when they go up against Frank Lampard’s Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The two teams last met on the opening day of the season, when Solskjaer bathed in the glory of a commanding 4-0 win and looked set to start the campaign on a high.

Six points now currently separate the teams, with Chelsea clinging on to fourth spot in the table while United wallow in eighth. (Daily Mail UK)
