The National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers (NANPF) has requested all players plying their trade in the Nigeria Professional Football League and the Nigeria National League with clear evidence of the expiration of their contracts in the recently concluded league season to approach the union, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) or the concerned league body to effect the process of their disengagement in case they are having issues securing their clearance from their clubs to further their careers.
“The Union is disturbed with current news going on of some clubs holding the clearance of their players whose contracts have already expired. Furthermore, some even insist on giving clearance to write off contractual or enhanced accumulated salaries owed the player(s) for transfer fees with the players’ new club,” NANPF General Secretary, Comrade Austin Popo, said yesterday.
“The Union advises the affected players not to fall victim of the current situation by seeking the service of the Union and other professionals in case of doubts regarding their current status with their clubs,” Comrade Popo said in a statement a copy of which was made available to Daily Sports.
