Now, he is focused on helping other promising young players in Nigeria’s domestic scene make a positive career progression like that of Omeruoh, who is presently earning pounds on loan at English Championship outfit, Middlesbrough.
In an exclusive chat with Daily Sports, Emelogu revealed plans to fly in soccer scouts from top European sides for a soccer event that would serve as trials for top promising players desirous of a career in Europe.
“I am talking to some scouts and coaches for a trip to Lagos by March to pick players. The event will hold in Lagos and the venue would be announced 3 weeks before the time,” Emelogu said.
Emelogu who is currently residing in Houston, United States, mentioned Portugal, Holland, Spain and Belgium as specific possible destinations for the young players who impress at the Lagos trials.
At the moment, Emelogu is particularly open to top strikers, whom he says he can push. “I want top quality strikers who are young and are of good height,” he informed.
Emelogu is the CEO of Paradise Sports Management Company. He has a track record of thoroughness in screening players for top level soccer.
In a previous interview with this reporter, he said of what he looks out for when accessing players: “I look out for what a player does with and without the ball. What you do without the ball is equally as important as what you do with it. A player who doesn’t know how to position himself when he doesn’t have the ball can cost his team a game. So these are the kind of things I consider in opting for a player.”
