Tosin Kehinde demoted to Man United under-23 bench after pledging international future to Nigeria

By Daily Sports on April 22, 2018

It is now crystal clear that Lagos-born midfielder Tosin Kehinde has been demoted to the Manchester United U23 bench and this comes after he pledged his international future to Nigeria over England.

Sources close to United’s U23 team earlier informed allnigeriasoccer.com that the Nigerian starlet is behind in the pecking order of midfielders in the Reserves but the fact is that he had started eleven games from a possible fifteen before making the decision to play for the Super Eagles in March.

For the third consecutive game, Kehinde started on the bench as the Red Devils were held to a 2-2 draw by Everton on Friday, before he was introduced in the 86th minute.

The 19-year-old has lasted 32 minutes on the pitch in those three games or 11.85 percent of the total minutes.

The handwriting on the wall is that Kehinde is not in the plans of U23s manager Ricky Sbragia for next season and might be loaned out to continue his development if he remains on the books of the club.

Chong and Redmond were the scorers for Manchester United, while Foulds and Garbutt got on the score-sheet for the Toffees.

United have been relegated to the Premier League 2 Division 2 next season. (All Nigeria Soccer)
