Harry Kane has pledged his commitment to Tottenham – and is eager to work with manager Jose Mourinho.
Kane was speaking before reports of the Argentine’s U-turn emerged from Spain after Messi initially said he was leaving the only club he had ever played for.
Fortunately for Spurs, the 27-year-old academy graduate has no such doubts about his future in north London.
“Messi’s situation is different to mine,” Kane, who has been linked to Manchester United and Manchester City, said. “He is 33 years old and he has been there a long, long time and won a lot with the club and been very successful.
“I don’t know him and have never spoken to him so I don’t know what his situation is but I am focused on myself.
“I have to perform and the last couple of years have been hindered by injury but I can get to the numbers I know I can with goals and assists.

“Hopefully as a team we can fight for the Premier League and the cup competitions.
“Of course the manager can help with his stature and how good he is but it is about me personally and where the team goes. I think it is more than just a manager who can do that.” (Tribal Football)
