Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette is set to make his comeback against Stoke on Sunday.
The £52 million striker has been out since last month after he needed surgery on his left knee.
He completed a full training session with the rest of the first-team squad on Wednesday and manager Arsene Wenger is giving serious thought to involving the
France international against Stoke at the Emirates on Sunday.
Lacazette may well be among the substitutes against the relegation candidates Stoke and is line for a second half appearance.
Wenger needs Lacazette fit for the crucial first leg of the Europa League quarter-final against CSKA Moscow next Thursday.
Only a triumph in that competition will secure Champions League football for Arsenal next season.
Arsenal are short of firepower in their European campaign. Their £58 million front man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is ineligible because his previous club Borussia Dortmund were in the Europa League when Wenger signed him in January.
Another boost for Wenger was the way that Jack Wilshere was able to train flat out in Wednesday’s session.
Wilshere missed England’s two recent internationals against Holland and Italy because of a knee injury.
Arsenal were unhappy with the handling of Wilshere’s fitness while on England duty.
Wilshere is carefully monitored at club level where it is accepted that he cannot train for four successive days.
That appears to have happened with England and why Wilshere suffered a reaction.
But he trained on Wednesday and Wenger is confident the midfield player will be available for the matches against Stoke and CSKA.
