Brown Ideye opened his LaLiga goals account as Malaga crashed 2-1 at home to Valencia on Saturday night.
It was the Nigerian’s first strike for La Albicelestes since his move from Chinese Super League side, Tianjin Teda.
However, they counted for nothing as the visitors regrouped to pick maximum points from La Rosaleda thanks to late minute strikes from Francis Coquelin and Daniel Parejo.
Going into this encounter, Malaga were hoping to arrest their poor form of no wins after 11 matches in all competition – and they got to a flying start against through the Nigerian.
Ideye tucked in Jose Recio’s corner past goalkeeper Neto as the first half ended in favour of the hosts.
With less than 10 minutes to full time, Los Che clawed back to win. First, Coquelin headed in Daniel Parejo’s corner with Parejo sealing the win five minutes later after converting from the penalty spot.
Aside his goal, Ideye recorded four shots on goal, won three aerial battles with 50 Pass success percentage.
Defeat to Valencia leaves Malaga at the base of the log with 13 points from 24 games. They face Athletic Bilbao in their next outing on February 25.
