National wrestler, Odunayo Adekuoroye, has showered praises on the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, for his huge contributions to the development of wrestling in the country.
Adekuoroye, a 53kg freestyle wrestler is expected to be one of the 90 wrestlers that will represent Nigeria at the forthcoming Africa Wrestling Championship billed to take place in Port Harcourt between February 7 and 11.
She said the work Wike has put in so far for the forthcoming event was enormous and it would go a long way in changing the face of the sport in the country.
“I have never seen a situation like this before. We have many wrestlers of various categories in three different camps in the country. We have never prepared well like this event for the Olympic Games. “Apart from the preparation, coming together of the young ones is a big boost for the coaches to identify future champions in wrestling. I am very happy that the many wrestlers are in camp at the same time,” Adekuoroye said.
