Nyirenda sweats on Daka's fitness for Nigeria clash

By Daily Sports on October 5, 2017

Zambia coach Wedson Nyirenda is sweating on the availability of striker Patson Daka ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier clash against Nigeria on Saturday.

The two nations are set to battle it out for the top spot in Group B and Chipolopolo could be without Daka who is nursing a knock.

Reports reveal that Daka sustained a minor injury while in action in the Austrian League on Sunday with RB Salzburg in their 2 -1 home win over AC Wolfsberger.

Acording to FAZ spokesperson Desmond Katongo, Daka will miss Zambia’s three-day training camp in Ghana as a result of that injury while he is receiving treatment in Austria.

“Daka will meet up with the team in Nigeria from his base in Austria,” Katongo said.

“The reason why he is connecting later is that he picked up a minor injury and his club's medical team wanted to do a thorough assessment of the injury.”

Meanwhile, Zambia is already without striker Brian Mwila as he failed to recover from a knee injury he sustained on September 2 in Chipolopolo’s 3-1 win over Algeria.

Chipolopolo will leave Ghana for Nigeria on Wednesday and will meet Gernot Rohr's side in Uyo at 18:00 (CAT) on Saturday.  (GOAL)
