Enugu Rangers coach, Chukwuma Agbo has laughed off suggestions that his club may be relegation threatened.
Rangers have struggled for most of the season in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) but Agbo insists that rather than think of a relegation dog fight they have bigger dreams.
“When I took over here, they gave me five games to turn the club around and I won three, drew one and lost one.
“I do not know why people have always been mentioning relegation with Rangers but I am looking at playing on the continent,” Agbo told npfl.ng.
“I am not losing hope though. We may not get to the continent via the league. We can also do it through the Federation (Aiteo) Cup,” Agbo enthused.
In spite of Rangers’ struggles for most of the season, Agbo had never been downbeat and gave his reasons for this.
“You see, as a leader, if you drop your head, it will discourage others. Even in a bad situation I need to rally the troops. The slogan of Rangers is ‘never say die’ and that is what we believe at Rangers that we will never die,” Agbo said.
With three matchdays left to play, Rangers lie in 10th place with 49 points and need four more points to be certain of playing in the top flight next season.
