The Anambra State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), has congratulated the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Garba Umar on his appointment as Security Advisor to the Super Eagles.
In a statement signed by the association’s Chairman, Mr. Anthony Oji, the body described the appointment as well deserved, saying that record has shown Umar to be a seasoned sports administrator and security expert.
While hailing the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the decision, the group said, “We are proud to identify with you as it is yet an attestation of your gallant and practical demonstration of your love for sports and its protection.“
We view the appointment as most appropriate as record shows you have a rich history in sports administration.
“As a serving chairman of Nigeria Police Football Association, having served as chairman of NFF Security Committee at the 2010 World Cup in ad-hoc capacity and as Chief Detail of Team Nigeria to the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and other relevant positions, you are no less suitable for the job.“
