Iheanacho impresses Leicester coach

By Daily Sports on August 9, 2017

Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanaco has already impressed his new manager at English Premier League (EPL) side Leicester City, Craig Shakespeare.

The Foxes defeated German Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengdladbach 2-1 in their last pre-season friendly match which was played on Friday.

Shakespeare was thrilled to see English international Jamie Vardy and Iheanacho unite so effectively with the latter playing a key role in City’s second goal.

Iheanacho found space behind the Mönchengladbach backline, before squaring it across goal to Vardy and the latter hit the back of the net.“

[Vardy] wanted to get back on the scoresheet and it was very unselfish of Kelechi to lay it on a plate for him," Shakespeare told City's official website.

"As somebody coming on to make his debut, he could easily have been a bit more selfish there.”

Iheanaco, 20, recently joined City from English giants Manchester City ahead of the 2017/18 EPL season which is scheduled to start this weekend.

Shakespeare's men are set to face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in their first league match which will be played on Friday.
