Uzoenyi impressing Ajax CT head coach Stanley Menzo

By Daily Sports on July 22, 2017

Former 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) star Ejike Uzoenyi has impressed Ajax Cape Town head coach Stanley Menzo, with the Nigeria international currently on trial at the club.

Uzoenyi has failed to live up to the promise he showcased on South African soil three years ago, with failed moves to Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits leaving the winger at a critical point in his career.

The Urban Warriors, though, have been impressed with Uzoenyi thus far with the winger catching the eye in a 4-0 pre-season win over Cape Town All Stars on Wednesday.

A final decision on his future, though, is yet to be made with Uzoenyi expected to carry a huge wage demand - something that could hamper a move to Ikamva.

“He is a smart player, and reads the game well,” Menzo tells KickOff.com. “I’m happy with what I’ve seen, he’s got a good left foot and good final pass. Is he the player we are looking for? I don’t know yet, but you can see he is a good player.”
