Heartland head coach Ramson Madu has dedicated his side's away point at Crown FC to late coach Kelechi Emeteole.
The former Heartland player and coach died in the early hours of Wednesday in an Indian hospital as a result of complications over throat cancer.
Nine-man Naze Millionaires were forced to a goalless draw by the Ajilete Boys in Wednesday’s Nigeria National League (NNL) matchday 18 clash at the Soun Township Stadium in Ogbomosho.
Madu said he charged his wards to win the match in honour of his late boss.
“I announced the sad news of coach Kelechi Emeteole’s death to the players before the clash against Crown FC.
“I charged the players to come out with their best performance to win the match for the departed soul of my boss, Emeteole.
“I can tell you that we played this game for him and his spirit gave us this away draw result against Crown FC,” said Madu to supersport.com.
“My boys played strictly to instruction and showed uncanny determination to get something decent from the match.
“I must say kudos to them for standing firmly even with two of their teammates being sent off quite early in the match.
“Crown FC are not walkovers, they tried their best in the encounter and I can only say that we are the luckier side,” Madu said.
