Nigeria’s top ranked men’s table tennis player Aruna Quadri is pleased to have been listed among the 24 foreign players for the maiden Ultimate Table Tennis League holding in Chennai, India, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The tournament will be held from the 8 July to 30 July.
Quadri who crashed out in the second round at the recent ITTF World Championships in Liebherr, Germany admitted that the tournament will hand him an opportunity to redeem his image after an unimpressive display.
“My aim is to do well and get better,” he told Completesportsnigeria.com.
Quadri will be joined in the tournarment by Wong Chun Ting (Hong Kong), Marcos Freitas (Portugal), Tiago Apolonia (Portugal), Stefan Fegerl (Austria), Kou Lei (Ukraine), Panagiotis Gionis (Greece), Andrej Gacina (Croatia), Pär Gerell (Sweden), Li Ping (Qatar), Joäo Monteiro (Portugal) and Liam Pitchford (England) in the men’s category.
The tournament is the first-ever professional table tennis league to be held in India; the concept comprises six franchises and will be staged in three cities.
