Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo wants to compete in his second World Cup next year, and is hoping that the Super Eagles will beat African champions Cameroon in August and September.
Despite being favourites, the Super Eagles lost at home to South Africa in an AFCON qualifier last weekend, but Omeruo is confident that the national team will see off the Indomitable Lions, with several stars like Victor Moses and Obi Mikel expected to return.
''They are very important matches for us and we have the quality to win both games,'' Omeruo said to SCORENigeria
''The two games are very important to us. It is the World Cup and I don’t think anybody will take it lightly.
''Our midfield will be okay as Mikel (Obi) will be back, some other players like Victor Moses will also be back by God’s grace so we will be ready for Cameroon.''
Nigeria have qualified for five of the last six editions of the showpiece event in Fifa's football calendar, missing out in 2006 because the Angolans had a better head-to-head record.
After two rounds in the race to qualify for Russia 2018, the Super Eagles lead their group with six points, four more than their next opponents.
