The People's Elephant handler said with the sort of margin separating them from the summit, they can still finish the season as champions
Gbenga Ogunbote believes that ‘anything can still happen’ for Enyimba in the current Nigerian topflight campaign.
The People's Elephant welcome table-toppers, Plateau United to the U.J Eusene Stadium on Sunday.
And when asked about his side’s credentials to usurp Kennedy Boboye’s high-flying side, the former Sunshine Stars coach says a win on Sunday would put them on the right path.
As he believes the other 19 teams in the division also stand a chance of finishing high.
“A win for us [against Plateau United] on Sunday reduces it to five and one can see that its an open league. And we still have 16 games left. [The margin] is not much of a distance as anything can still happen,” Ogunbote told Goal.
“Every team on that log have equal chance of getting to the top and that's why we are upbeat because we are one of the twenty teams and we are working very hard to ensure we get there.
“[For Enyimba] It's a collective responsibility. Everyone from the management, the players and the staffs are working very hard to ensure that the team finish in an appreciable position.”
Enyimba are ninth in the Nigeria Professional Football League table after amassing 31 points - eight adrift Sunday’s oppositions and league leaders, Plateau United - from 21 games.
