Acid test for Taiwo Awoniyi as Dutch club fight to stay in top division

Taiwo Awoniyi will hope his Dutch club NEC Nijmegen fight back on Sunday from a 1-0 loss at NAC Breda so as to stay in contention in the relegation/promotion playoff and a take a big step towards staying up in the top flight.

Awoniyi, who is on loan from Liverpool in the Premier League, was a 61st minute substitute in the first leg on Thursday night.

He will be booked a minute after his introduction in a game watched by 19,000fans.

Former Flying Eagles skipper Abduljaleel Ajagun and Kelechi Nwakali, who has also captained the Nigeria U20s, are locked in the other half of the relegation/promotion battle.

In this Linburg derby Ajagun features for Roda JC, while Nwakali is on loan to MVV Maastricht.

The first leg at MVV ended in a goalless draw with both players on for the full duration, while the return leg also on Sunday.
