Festus Austine suspended for CAF Confederation Cup tie

By Daily Sports on May 12, 2017

Rivers United skipper Festus Austine will miss Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup Group A tie at Club Africain of Tunisia after he bagged two bookings in the qualifying rounds of the competition.

The influential, hard-tackling central defender was cautioned in both legs of the final playoffs against Rayon Sports of Rwanda last month.

FUS of Morocco and Kampala City Council from Uganda are the other teams in this group with the top two teams advancing to the quarterfinals of the annual competition.

Rivers United are Nigeria’s only remaining club in international football and they are due to fly out Friday for the game in Tunis.

No Nigerian club have won this competition since it was founded in 2004.
