Heartland captain and defensive midfielder, Julius Ubido, has said his side are looking forward to another away win at My People FC.
The Naze Millionaires are guests of the Lagos outfit in Saturday’s Nigeria National League (NNL) matchday 8 clash at the Agege Township Stadium in Lagos.
Ubido said his side have broken the historical jinx that usually see the side lose the next match on home ground after excelling on the road.
“Our mission in Lagos is to win the NNL clash at My People FC on Saturday in Lagos.
“Victory in the encounter is non-negotiable as we need all the points to chance inching our hands at the summit.
“Right now what is on everybody’s lip is Heartland must return to the Nigerian top-flight.
“We share in the ‘Heartland must return to the top-flight’ catchword and we want to see it happens.
“Right now we have broken the past jinx that often sees us lose our next home match after doing very well on the road.
“At least, we beat Warri Wolves on the road only to come back home to win against Ikorodu United.
“We want to continue on the momentum by extending the away win further against My People FC.
“It looks tough but I have told my teammates that it’s quite achievable once we put our minds on the task.
“It has been really tough adapting the playing style of teams in the lower league.
“NNL is more physical and requires a lot of power and strength compared with the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
“Well we have been able to cope relying more on experience and maturity to get the job well done,” said the former Lobi Stars goal poacher to supersport.com.
The Owerri landlords next game will be at home against the Oshogbo warlords, Osun United.
