Arsenal’s Emile Smith-Rowe A Doubt For Everton Clash

By Daily Sports on December 5, 2021

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted that Emile Smith Rowe is a slight doubt for Monday’s Premier League battle with Everton.

The 21-year-old opened the scoring in bizarre fashion against Manchester United in midweek before being taken off for Bukayo Saka in the 70th minute.

Smith Rowe’s substitution was initially thought to have been a tactical decision, but Arteta has now revealed that the England international will need to be assessed due to “discomfort”.

Speaking to reporters at his pre-game press conference, Arteta said: “He had some discomfort during the game and we decided to take him off. He’s been evolving well over the last few days, so we have to wait until tomorrow to see how he is.”

Smith Rowe’s strike at Old Trafford was his fifth goal of the Premier League season, four of which have come in his last six top-flight matches.

The attacker joins Sead Kolasinac and Granit Xhaka in the Gunners’ treatment room, while second-choice goalkeeper Bernd Leno missed the clash with Man United due to a tight groin. (Sports Mole)
