Ighalo wants Mikel at Watford

By Daily Sports on December 10, 2016

Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo has urged English Premier League club Watford to make a move for Chelsea midfielder Mikel John Obi.

Mikel has yet to make a competitive appearance for Chelsea this season under Italian manager Antonio Conte.

The midfielder’s Chelsea contract expires next summer but the Nigeria midfielder could leave Stamford Bridge in January for a small fee.

Olympique Marseille, Besiktas and Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG, managed by Mikel’s ex-Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas, are among clubs reportedly interested in securing the services of the Super Eagles captain.

But Ighalo, currently in the books of Watford, says he will be delighted to have Mikel join him at Vicarage Road.

“I would like it if Mikel joined me at Watford.

“He is my captain at the national team. Apart from that he is a very good player, very talented.

“There is no team in the Premier League that will not want to have such a player.

“I am happy I have played with him so I will be very happy to have him in my team,” Ighalo told the Mirror.

Mikel has made over 240 league appearances for Chelsea since he joined the Blues in 2006. (supersport.com)
