5 states hunt for honours as KADA 2016 Beach Soccer Cup kicks off in Kaduna

The first ever Beach Soccer Tournament in Kaduna kicked off yesterday, October 14, 2016. It is organised by the Kaduna State Football Association and is taking place at a purpose-built beach soccer pitch inside the Murtala Muhammed Square.

The three-day event which holds supported by Globacom is featuring hosts Kaduna Beach Soccer Club, Kogi, Lagos, Anambra states and the Savannah Sands team of Gombe State.

A member of the organising committee, Olajide Taiye, believes that the staging of the competition will entertain and create vibes in the Kaduna city as help discover talents ahead of the African Beach Soccer Nations Cup.

“This is history in the making, beach soccer has been brought right into the heart of Kaduna in style and this shall go a very long way in developing the sport even in the non-coastal cities, at the sometime provide an accessible platform for the youths to be engaged meaningfully,” said Olajide.

“The event tagged ‘Kada Trophy 2016’ is a cocktail of soccer and music from a live Dj, organised in collaboration with the Kaduna FA and supported by Glo is anticipated to enjoy hug spectatorship as it’s the first of its kind in the city,” he added.

Daily Sports recalls that Nigeria is set to host the 2016 AFCON Beach Soccer this December in Lagos which serve as the qualifier tournament for the FIFA Beach Soccer 2017.
